epa08356712 Cedric Pahud, Director and Owner of BCD microtechnique, tests the Covidair respiratory machine, a non-invasive ventilation (NIV) respiratory support for the COVID-19 health crisis during the state of emergency of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, in Preverenges, Switzerland, 09 April 2020 (issued 11 April 2020). BCD microtechnique is a SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) in the canton of Vaud with eight employees which normally develops sensors and measuring instruments for use in industry, watch-making and the medical sector. On 10 March 2020 the team of engineers started to develop and then produce non-invasive ventilation devices (respirator with mask). After 22 days, 10 machines were up and running, the manufacturing of another 160 machines is currently in progress. Clinical tests and certification are currently being conducted in hospitals.
